01
Which glove family and price point should I start with?
Start with one family you can sell and one price band you can hold. A narrow first line keeps samples, sizes and stock easy to manage.

Work back from your shelf price. It has to cover the factory price per pair, plus shipping, duty, packaging and your margin. Ask each factory for a per-pair price at two or three quantities, for example 100, 300 and 500 pairs, so you can see how the price changes as you grow.
02
What should a glove spec or tech pack include?
A tech pack is the document that tells the factory exactly what to make. For a glove, list the type, palm and back materials, sizes, colors, closure, logo position and method, packaging, quantity and destination country. Add photos of a reference glove if you have one.
Choose the leather before you write the spec. Cabretta is generally thinner and softer, and cowhide heavier and tougher (Grip Boost; MDS Associates). Compare them in glove leather types.
03
How much does a glove sample cost, and how do I check it?
Expect to pay for a custom sample, and ask whether the courier cost is included. The price depends on the style, so ask for it per style before you commit. When the sample arrives, check fit, stitching and leather against your spec, one by one, and write your comments on a copy of the spec.
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Fit | Golf: middle-finger length and hand circumference at the knuckles (FootJoy chart on SCHEELS). Batting: hand length from palm base to middle-finger tip (Rawlings), snug with no slack at the fingertips (Tater Baseball). Boxing: snug and firm, with room for wraps (TITLE Boxing). |
| Stitching | Even stitch spacing, no loose threads, no skipped stitches at the fingertips and thumb |
| Leather | The material named in your spec; even color and grain across the palm |
| Branding | Logo position, size and color match the artwork |
| Closure and trims | Strap, tab and labels as specified |
Approve the sample in writing only when every row passes. That approved pair becomes the standard the bulk order is checked against. For boxing weights, see our boxing glove size chart.
04
How small can my first order be, and how long does it take?
Custom minimums vary by factory and style, so ask for the MOQ per design, not per order. Also ask whether you can split that quantity across sizes, for example S, M, L and XL. Ask for the production time counted from sample approval, because that is when the clock starts. Shipping time comes on top and depends on the method and your country.

05
What labels and compliance do I need?
It depends on what you claim and where you sell. In the EU, consumer gloves that are not PPE fall under the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which has applied since December 13, 2024. Every product it covers must have a responsible person in the EU, whose details are clearly shown on the product, its packaging or an accompanying document (Irish CCPC).
| Your glove | EU rules to check |
|---|---|
| Sport gloves designed only for grip, stability or comfort, such as a golf or batting glove with no protective claim | Not PPE (Commission PPE guidelines, point 12.8); GPSR applies when sold to consumers. Confirm for your design |
| Boxing gloves | Not PPE; bag gloves are Category I PPE |
| A glove you market as protective (cut, impact, heat) | PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425; Category II needs an EU type-examination by a notified body |
The Commission's guide is not legally binding, so confirm borderline cases with a notified body. If you claim protection, read glove safety standards explained first.
06
What packaging do I need?
Plan the packaging with the glove, because it carries your brand and your label text. Put the box, hang tag, polybag and carton marks in your tech pack, with the label text for each market you sell in.
07
How do I check quality before the goods ship?
You can book a pre-shipment inspection and judge the result by AQL. AQL (acceptance quality limit, ISO 2859-1) is the worst tolerable quality level: the maximum defect rate at which a sampled lot is still accepted. QualityInspection.org gives typical consumer-goods values of 0% critical, 2.5% major and 4.0% minor defects, and says they vary by product and market.
QIMA, an inspection company, says it runs pre-shipment inspections when production is at least 80% complete. That threshold is industry practice, not part of the standard.
08
Which Incoterms should I use?
Incoterms are the ICC's 11 trade terms that set who pays for transport and who carries the risk at each stage. The current edition is Incoterms 2020. The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK) summarizes the common ones:
| Term | Seller's job | Transport |
|---|---|---|
| EXW (Ex Works) | Has goods ready at an agreed place; the buyer does the rest | Any |
| FCA (Free Carrier) | Hands goods to the buyer's carrier at an agreed place | Any |
| FOB (Free on Board) | Costs and risk until goods are on board the buyer's ship | Sea and inland waterway only |
| CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) | Pays freight and insurance to the destination port; risk passes on board | Sea and inland waterway only |
| DAP (Delivered at Place) | Transport and risk to the destination, not unloaded | Any |
| DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) | Also clears import customs and pays duties | Any |
09
How do reorders work?
A reorder should match the approved sample. Keep one approved pair yourself, and quote the same spec, size split and label text on every reorder.
10
How does this work with UMIRX?
UMIRX makes private label gloves in Sialkot, Pakistan, and the steps above are how we run an order. Custom gloves start at 100 pairs per design, after a paid sample. Production takes about 29 days after you approve the sample. We ship FOB, CFR, CIF or DDP, and we usually reply within 1 hour.
| Sample | Price |
|---|---|
| Golf glove (cabretta) | US$20 |
| Work glove | US$20 |
| Mechanic glove | US$25 |
| Batting glove | US$30 |
| MMA glove | US$30 |
| Boxing glove | US$40 |
Courier cost to your country comes with the quote. The full order flow is on how we work. To start, send the glove type, target quantity, logo file and destination country to request a quote, or see private label gloves.
